Critics continue to investigate the Philippine’s President Rodrigo Duterte’s ill-gotten wealth issue. They claim that the Dutertes are hiding billions, belying their image of simple living. How rich is Duterte? What really is his net worth?

How Rich is President Duterte? (Net Worth)

In 2017, Duterte’s net worth reaches ₱28,540,321. This is based on the SALN he submitted to the Office of the Ombudsman.

In 2016, Duterte declared ₱27.4 million net worth in his Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN). He has P18.4 million cash on hand/bank.

He also declared 9 real estate properties:

  • 7 lots in Davao City
  • 2 house and lots also in Davao City
  • P3 million worth of real estate properties under his daughter’s name Veronica

He declared other properties such as:

  • Volkswagen Sedan
  • Toyota RAV4


Senator Antonio Trillanes claimed that Duterte’s bank accounts contains P2.4 billion worth of deposits. Funds according to him could be coming from hiring ghost employees in Davao City or from illegal activities.. Because of this, Trillanes, filed a plunder complaint against Duterte in May 2016.

In October 2017, Trillanes detailed Duterte’s bank transactions from 2006 to 2015, with the highest amount transacted in one day reaching up to P193 million.

Overall Deputy Ombudsman Arthur Carandang presented to the media the documents showing Duterte’s cash flow of almost P1 billion. Malacañang responded and suspended him due to this matter.

Duterte always repeated his claims that his bank accounts contain only P40 million. He said that he will step down as the President of the Philippines if the Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) finds out that they contain more than this amount.

According to Duterte, the P40 million includes his inheritance which he obtained when his family divided land in Davao.
